Australia lagging on children’s health
ABC – New research shows Australia is falling behind other developed countries when it comes to infant mortality rates, teenage births and joblessness among families with children.The latest report card on the wellbeing of Australian children from the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) also shows that obesity and nutrition remain problems areas.The institute’s Deanna Eldridge says the most concerning statistics involve Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children with the report showing they are far more likely to be disadvantaged.
