Stronger discrimination protections at work for breastfeeding mothers

The Australian – DISCRIMINATING against a breastfeeding mother at work or in public will become illegal under new commonwealth laws, and men will receive new protections if they take paternity leave. Attorney-General Robert McClelland yesterday announced plans to provide stronger discrimination protections for Australians with family responsibilities. The government will amend the Sex Discrimination Act 1984 by extending protections from discrimination on the grounds of family responsibilities to women and men, and providing greater protection from sexual harassment for students and workers.
