A Rather Revealing Week
by James Fairbairn – Chief Editor, Open Your Eyes News
On many fronts this week’s news was very revealing indeed. In summary:
A good week for – The New World Order
Its been a great week for the New World Order with the final flames of democracy snuffed out in the birth place of democracy, Greece, by their European overlords. At least Prime Minister Papendreau tried valiantly, calling a referendum and sacking the entire military high command to stave off a coup. However within a couple of days he was put back into his box and the referendum called off after “discussions” with the G20. Tellingly his touted successor as Greece’s puppet leader, Lucas Papedemos has quite an interesting resume: Ex Federal Reserve bank of Boston, Ex Governor of the Greek Central Bank, Ex Vice President of the European Central Bank and he is a Trilateral Commission member. You don’t get more New World Order establishment than that.
Clearly the Greek message was heard loud and clear by Italy, who on the back of 30% youth unemployment and Europe’s biggest debt, gladly gave up their independence and agreed to “IMF monitoring“. Then again giving up a randy dictator, for a faceless Euro dictatorship is probably a small relief.
But despite all the doom and gloom economically with sovereign debts, at least bank profits seem to be back to where they like them.
A bad week for – The Occupy movement and democracy in general
After a brief flurry of media interest a few weeks ago the occupy movement has run into problems this week, with a combination of apathy, cold northern hemisphere weather, infiltration by coordinated corporate funded groups and police agent provocateurs, and a general police clamp down in both the Northern and Southern hemoisphere’s.
Mind you it is no wonder that the “99%” in the USA are slightly peeved when you see the news this week that Members of Congress increased their personal wealth 25% in Two Years, Corporate funding of US politics is soaring, while all the while the plight of the 99% get’s worse. This week we saw that a record number of US citizens Are On Food Stamps (46 million), and a record 1 in 15 people are classified as being in extreme poverty. Not that this has stopped their political masters spending money like proverbial drunken sailors with US debt increasing by $203 Billion in October alone – $650 for every Man, Woman and Child in America.
As for the 99% the UK, very interesting revelations this week over the true nature of their “democracy”. The Guardian did a fascinating piece on the unseen influence of the City of London’s “rememberencer” in the House of Commons, and just how little accountability the corporate fiefdom of the square mile has. And the hereditary heir to the throne, and direct decendant of Vlad the Impaler, when not busily buying up castles and forests in Transylvania, is happily vetoing any Government legislation that might affect his commercial interests.
A bad week for – Peace
Meanwhile the drums of war with Iran that we warned about a few weeks ago, quickened a beat this week, with Israel Air Force conducting drills for long-range attacks; the Israeli Defence Force holding a drill simulating rocket attack on central Israel; and the UK’s army chief secretly visiting Tel Aviv and ordering the armed forces to prepare (for the inevitable?). Though in some ways the covert war with Iran has already been ongoing for a while, and as the latest CIA accounts show that doesn’t come cheap. On the political front certainly in the US things “progressed” with The American Israel Public Affairs Committee’s “War With Iran” Bill Passing the House Committee stage in Congress.
If nothing else the Israeli Government need a distraction to take the heat out of their own simmering “Occupy” movement. Not that any war with Iran will be easy or uncomplicated as could be seen by yet more Chinese missile sales this week to the Islamic Republic, and Russian movement of military assets to the Black Sea region. The potential to drag the Russians and Chinese into any war is very real indeed. Perhaps that is why all the nuclear powers are investing so many trillions of dollars, even in these cash strapped times, into upgrading their nuclear arsenal’s. It’s a wonder why Iran would even want the financial headache of nuclear weapons.
A bad week for – The Environment
Though generally out of sight and out of mind for the last 6 months, the Fukushima disaster is still ongoing, and more revelations this week as to just how catastrophic for the planet this disaster has been with new US research showing that U.S. topsoil has up to 8,000 pCi/kg of cesium from Fukushima, and that the plant owners released a record amount of radiation into the ocean when the disaster first occurred. Sushi may need to be off the menu in Japan for the next few thousand years.
A bad week for – Scientific Consensus
Meanwhile in the realms of science it has been a rather embarrassing week indeed. First there were revelations that a Dutch psychologist admits he made up research data – but surely he was a “rogue” and that would never normally happen for the sake of funding. And then there was the news this week that an archaeologist had finally been vindicated in his finds after 35 years of academic vilification and ridicule. So much for scientific consensus.
Overall?
Clearly not the most positive weeks on the face of it…. unless the real 99% actually get off their comfortable rear ends and do something about it.
